NFL Draft rumors: Cowboys, Zack Martin set to meet

The Dallas Cowboys have been spending time leading up to the 2014 NFL Draft with some of the top defensive prospects in the draft class, but now they are shifting their attention to the other side of the ball with a versatile offensive lineman who could bring some much needed toughness in the trenches.

Jeff Cavanaugh of 105.3 The Fan in Dallas passed along the news.

Martin is projected to go within the top 20 picks, so he would certainly bring value if the Cowboys take him with their pick. His ability to move around the line and play multiple positions will also be a bonus.

The Cowboys have made massive strides along the offensive line in recent years, but you can always continue to improve and a player like Martin will provide depth while also adding the ability to fill multiple holes along the offensive front.

As the draft draws nearer, it seems increasingly likely that the Cowboys first-round pick will be a lineman. It’s just a question of what side of the ball he will play on.

If Donald and Barr are off the board, this is our guy at 16 (though I wouldn’t turn down Lewan if he was there instead). Spend a pick through the 3rd round next year on another G or a kid that projects as a better RT, and you could pretty much put anybody at QB for the next decade.
