The Houston Texans hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, which means they will have the power to dictate how all of the dominoes will begin to fall in three weeks time when NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announces the picks at Radio City Music Hall.

Houston was believed to be leaning towards drafting one of the top defenders or South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, and now there is growing buzz about the direction they will choose.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN,  the “prevailing thought around the league” is the Texans will “take a defensive player or look to trade out.”

Schefter made the comments on NFL Live Thursday and Rotoworld shared the news.

The news would seem to indicate that Clowney will be the team’s choice at the top of the draft if they cannot find a trade partner, but Buffalo’s Khalil Mack could also be an option if Houston decides to pull a fast one.

If the Texans decide to trade down, the Atlanta Falcons could be a team to watch.
