The San Francisco 49ers are openly shopping running back LaMichael James in hopes of picking up another draft pick.

If LaMichael James isn’t traded, there’s a very good chance that the 49ers will end up releasing him. Now ESPN’s Adam Teicher was asked by a fan if James would be a good fit and worth a late round pick for Kansas City. Here’s Teicher’s response:

"“Maybe. If LaMichael James could adapt to the McCluster role as a slot receiver and not a running back, that move might make sense for the Chiefs. He also had done a nice job of returning kicks for the San Francisco 49ers, and the Chiefs have a need there. But he never could earn much playing time on offense with the 49ers, so that is a concern.” Adam Teicher’s response to a fan on ESPN.com"

I honestly feel like it would be a great idea for the Chiefs to pursue LaMichael James. With Dexter McCluster landing with the Tennessee Titans, Kansas City will be looking to pick someone up who can play the same role that McCluster did while he was under contract.

James could very well be that player.
