The Minnesota Twins are trying to power pack in the AL Central and stay relevant in a division that seems to be top heavy with two teams. But while the Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers own the division, the Twins have quietly begun putting together a respectable May start to their season and have added a potentially great fit to their roster.

According to FOXSports insider Ken Rosenthal, the Twins have claimed outfielder Sam Fuld off waivers from the Oakland Athletics.

The move means that the Twins will have another body to bring into the outfield and a bat to help the lineup. There’s no saying how well Fuld will work with the Twins, but he seems tone a vintage Twins signing. Back when they were consistently playoff contenders, the Twins lived and died with the small ball and guys like Fuld being plugged into their lineup was crucial to that style of play.

Fuld isn’t a young man and is hardly a long term replacement for anyone, but he’l likely fit a certain role with the Twins and help restore that small ball mantra to a club that knows how to win with the right pieces.
