The Milwaukee Brewers will be without Carlos Gomez for the next three games, as Major League Baseball has slapped him with a three game suspension following this past Sunday’s epic brawl between the Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates. While pitcher Gerrit Cole won’t face discipline, Gomez was among four players suspended for their roles in the big brawl that cleared the benches and put a stain on the weekend’s slate of games.

According to CBSSports, a suspension will not becoming the way of pitcher Gerrit Cole, who was involved in the beginning of the brawl and viewed as an instigator by some who watched it happen. But it was clear that while Cole was upset about Gomez showing him up for what amounted to be just a triple, Gomez was looking for a fight and got both it and a suspension.

Milwaukee got hit hard with a bigger suspension for Manny Maldonado, who didn’t start the fight but finished one with a nasty haymaker to the face of Russell Martin.

The suspensions have been handed out and now baseball will try to move past what is so far the biggest brawl since the Padres and Dodgers broke bones in a fight last year.
