NBA Playoffs 2014: Dirk Nowitzki yells 'And 1' (video)

After blowing a fourth quarter lead to lose game 1 of their first round matchup with the San Antonio Spurs 90-85, the Dallas Mavericks knew how meaningful (and how difficult) getting a victory in game 2 to return to Dallas with a split would be.

After the Mavericks pushed the lead to 18, Nowitzki hit a tough 17-foot jumper. Nowitzki was fouled on the play and as the ball was in the air, Nowitzki screamed “And 1″ about as loud as anyone ever has on the court. Nowitzki’s prediction came true. The shot fell and Boris Diaw, who was covering Nowitzki on the play, was called for a foul. Nowitzki drilled the free throw and the Mavericks pushed the lead to 21, all but putting the Spurs away to earn that important split.

With time winding down in the fourth quarter, the Mavericks have pushed the lead all the way to 24 and Nowitzki has 16 points and four rebounds.
