DICE admits Battlefield 4 is still broken

It’s been nearly six months since Battlefield 4 was released to the public, and it’s still not working as initially intended.

In a post on the Battlefield blog, DICE confirmed that issues still exist that are keeping the game from operating at its intended level, though game fixes are currently being implemented. The latest issue being adressed by the development team is that of “rubber banding” that are impacting players after downloading the Naval Strike DLC pack.

Rubber banding is when the game slows down or completely stalls before rapidly catching up to where your character would be should the slow down never had happened.

“We have invested in new hardware to resolve this issue and deployed new higher-performance servers this week,” Karl Magnus Troedsson, DICE VP & GM said. “In preparation, we conducted a significant amount of testing before installing the new servers to ensure they would correct the issue. We are already seeing performance improvement with 64-player matches and expect this to continue.”

Mike’s Musings: I wrote about Battlefield 4 being the tale of a broken game last year, and it still isn’t getting any better. Hopefully DICE and EA take all this issues into consideration and hold off on releasing Battlefield 5 until 2015. But, then again, this is a money business, and people are still going to pay for a game even if it is broken. So, why delay it?
