After losing the first two games of their first round playoff series with the Portland Trail Blazers at home, the Houston Rockets entered Friday night’s game 3 in Portland with a sense of desperation.

The Rockets outplayed the Blazers for a majority of the night, but blew a nine-point lead in the final minutes and were forced to go to overtime with the Blazers.

The Rockets fell behind 116-112 but after four straight points, they got the ball back in a tie game. They went to James Harden, but he could not get around a Dwight Howard screen at first. Then as he drove towards the lane, he lost the ball. Jeremy Lin scooped it up and found rookie Troy Daniels. Daniels buried a three-pointer.

Nicolas Batum’s effort to tie the game went long and the Rockets walked away with a 121-116 victory.

During the season, Daniels played a total of 75 minutes and appeared in just five games.
