The NFL Draft is just around the corner and that means teams are starting to decide what they want to do with their first round pick. For the Carolina Panthers that may involve trading to away as there is speculation that the team could trade out of the first-round given how low in the order they are anyways.

David Newton from ESPN.com opines that the Panthers may get bombarded by a run on wide receivers right before they go on the clock which would be motivation to move down. Still, trading out of the first may not be the best option.

Per ESPN.com:

"At 28, you’re already close to the second around, so it wouldn’t be a huge risk dropping down and getting a player of equal value at a lower cost. That being said, it probably won’t happen. I still believe the Panthers will go with an offensive tackle, and I suspect one of those that general manager Dave Gettleman likes will be there at 28."

Carolina blew up their wide receiver corps and that had many thinking that they’d be building through the draft. If there are no receivers there at No. 28, it would make sense to trade down but the Panthers have other needs and a trade would need to be one they couldn’t pass up.
