While the negative attention of the NBA is focused on the disgusting comments allegedly made by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, the New York Knicks are still out East trying to find a head coach to lead their team into the future. Everyone knows that Steve Kerr is the man for the job and he’s consulting with some legendary New York sports figures to seek advice on what to do.
According to Peter Botte of The New York Daily News, Kerr has also met with a true New York coaching legend, Bill Parcells, to get some advice and tips moving forward.
But Kerr, who has never coached in the NBA, has been doing his homework by talking to several heavyweights in the coaching fraternity both in and out of basketball — most notably former Giants and Jets Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells.
If there’s a coach who knows New York and knows how to win in New York, it’s Parcells. He won multiple Super Bowls with the New York Giants and even helped make the New York Jets respectable during his short stay in the late 90s.
He won’t be advising on basketball decisions, but having someone like Parcells to confide in is proof that Kerr’s resources seem to be endless.
