NFL Trade Rumors: Could Oakland Raiders acquire Ndamukong Suh in draft day swap?

‘Tis the season for draft day trade talk in the NFL as there seems to be no other time of the season in which trades are as actively talked about and considered than on the first day of the NFL Draft. While we typically only see trades that exchange picks for picks, there have been notable names moved on draft day including Randy Moss and Eli Manning.

It’s not often though that we see big name players on the move but that doesn’t stop us from talking about it. Raiders beat writer Vic Tafur was asked such an outlandish scenario in which the Detroit Lions would trade Ndamukong Suh and the No. 10 overall pick to the Raiders for the No. 5 pick.

Given the Raiders willingness to trade down if they don’t have the right guy there and how well Suh’s devil may care attitude fits the Raiders lethal reputation, the trade would be easy to make.

The only question is would the Lions agree to it and the chances of that are rather low, even if the team is having trouble negotiating with Suh on a long term deal. If they do trade Suh, which isn’t totally out of the question, don’t expect it to be before or during the draft but the Raiders could be in play down the road.

Being that Reggie McKenzie has been bringing in free agents with high character who are very talented over poor character players who are extremely talented. I can’t see them pursuing Suh at all. This is not the Raiders of old. If it were, then Suh would fit the mold to a T.

  • Raider Grant

I wouldnt want for Raiders to pursue Suh, but if he was included in a deal for additional draft pick too I would not complain.

What a horrible deal for the lions! Suh was a second overall pick not a second round pick. If that is all he is worth he can only get about 4 million a year on the open market. And the lions have nothing to fear as far as losing him in free agency is concerned,

  • Shawn Buck

Raiders have 12 million in cap space Suh counts 22.4 million against the cap. Do some research before you write articles.

  • Carl Elftman

Do it Suh will be great and they could get a QB or a CB in the tenth round.

  • Michael DeClue

I would do this in a heart beat our 5 for suh and their 10 nobody else wants that contract and the lions do want in the top 5 we be killin afc west if this did happen manning running from suh tuck and woodley lol just to name a few lol

  • rob

This is just another absurd rumor

  • rem

Suh and 10th for 5th lmao ya right

  • james

suh for the 5th pick….we need to pick watkins/mack and then ha ha or gilbert

If Martin Mahew did something this stupid he should be fired
before round 2 of the draft commences. NOWAY! The Lions would be huge losers in
    that deal.

If SUH were packaged to Oakland plus Detroit’s 10 the Lions
would need more compensation that just moving up 5 spots. That’s a king’s
    ransom for 5 spots.
