As we inch closer and closer to the 2014 NFL Draft, there has been a lot of talk lately surrounding potential interest in Johnny Manziel from Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys. Since that word began to make its rounds last week, seemingly everyone from around the NFL world has weighed in with their opinions, but what does one of the greatest quarterbacks in the franchise’s history, Roger Staubach, think?

Well in an interview with ESPN recently, while he’s not knocking Johnny Football, Staubach just doesn’t see where he fits in with his old organization.

“I think Manziel has got great instincts.” Staubach told ESPN. “I think he’ll be a fine player, but I don’t think you want a Manziel when you have a franchise quarterback. Jerry has paid (Romo) as a franchise. I think Tony is that. He’s not the reason we’re 8-8.That’s my feeling.”

In the end, all that would happen with Jones ultimately pulling the trigger on drafting Manziel next week would be unwanted controversy and a distraction that the team doesn’t need right now as they look to get over that playoff hump with Romo and that new contract at the helm.
