The Dallas Cowboys brought in cornerback Brandon Carr to anchor and fix what was a weakness in their defense for years, their secondary. He has never quite lived up to the expectations and after Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson caught 14 passes for  329 yards receiving and a touchdown against Carr, his confidence seemed shaken.

Carr said there is no tougher critic than himself and called the 2013 season humbling.

“I’m my toughest critic and there are some things I wish I could’ve done differently,” Carr said Tuesday, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “I wish I would’ve trusted myself a little more on certain things. But it was an alright season for me. It wasn’t my best season. It was a season that I wouldn’t boast about. But it was definitely a humbling experience.”

The silver lining for Cowboys fans is that Carr says it is serving as motivation this offseason.

“It helped to motivate me in the off-season. It’s more fuel to the fire,” Carr said.
