On Tuesday, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver dished out as harsh of a punishment as most thought possible.

He banned Los Angeles Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling from the NBA and fined him $2.5 million, which is the most they could possibly fine Sterling, Silver explained.

The next step, according to NBA Player’s Union Vice President Roger Mason, Jr., is to strip the entire Sterling family of the team.

That means they would need a new owner and boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is interested in buying the team.

“I can’t come in here talking about Mayweather only going to get 3% or 4%,” Mayweather, a huge Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers fan, said at the MGM Grand via Bob Velin of The USA Today. “I got to get a solid percentage.

“But do we want to buy the Clippers? Yes we do. We’re very, very interested in buying the Clippers.”

Mayweather, who often attends Clippers’ games said he would leave the team in Los Angeles if he does become an owner.

“Me and my team want to buy the Clippers. And we can afford the Clippers.”
