4-star point guard Nick Noskowiak seemed like a solid Marquette Golden Eagles’ commitment, but when Buzz Williams left Marquette to take over as head coach of the Virginia Tech Hokies, Noskowiak backed out of his commitment.

On Thursday, Noskowiak re-committed to Marquette, citing new head coach Steve Wojciechowski and his staff as the major reason.

“I knew I wanted to be there, so I kind of figured, why wait?” Noskowiak told Jason Galloway of The Wisconsin State Journal. “I don’t feel like taking calls from other schools every day when I already know where I want to be. I feel like Coach Wojciechowski really wanted me to be his first ever recruit.

“He played my position at the highest level. I trust him 100 percent. I can tell in the amount of time we’ve spent together that he’s going to have my back no matter what.”

The 6’2, 180-pounder is from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and is ranked as the 13th-best point guard prospect in the country, the third-best overall prospect in the state of Wisconsin and the 50th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.

Noskowiak also had offers from the Hokies, Creighton Blue Jays and Iowa State Cyclones, among others
