In just his second season as head coach of the UConn Huskies, Kevin Ollie led the UConn Huskies back to the national championship earlier this month with a win over John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats, instantly making him one of the hotter commodities on the coaching market.

With the Los Angeles Lakers position recently opening up, Ollie’s named has moved right to the top of the list of the rumor mill, and as Yahoo’s resident basketball expert Adrian Wojnarowski points out, while the championship-winning coach has started new contract talks with UConn, a move to the NBA is still possible.

"University of Connecticut coach Kevin Ollie has started discussions on a new contract with school officials, but hasn’t ruled out listening to NBA overtures, sources told Yahoo Sports.Fresh off his masterful national championship coaching run this spring, Ollie is a consideration for the Los Angeles Lakers and is expected to move onto short lists as more NBA teams make coaching changes, league sources told Yahoo Sports."

As Wojnarowski stated, it doesn’t specifically have to be the Lakers that he would be considering, it could be any number of teams that are looking for a boost in the coaching department heading into next season.

Could Ollie possibly be headed back to Oklahoma City for a reunion with Kevin Durant and company, where he actually played recently, if Scott Brooks does not return?

Nothing is for sure yet except for that fact that Ollie’s recent, quick success at UConn has put the ball completely in his court heading forward.
