Although the Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly working on an extension (a deal with they have been apparently struggling to get done), they are still interested in adding talent to the position.
According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.com, the Chiefs could select a quarterback in the first few rounds and lists former Fresno State Bulldogs’ quarterback Derek Carr as one of the possibilities.
Count Chiefs as sleeper QB team, depending how 1st round falls. Andy Reid history, even if it's 2nd or 3rd rd. Carr among QBs linked.

“@NFLDraftTalk365: they're without a 2nd this year” >> not if they trade back or they could stay at 23 & take him, pending who's there

Smith had a fine year for the Chiefs, but getting a young player to develop and push Smith certainly isn’t a bad idea.
Carr was fantastic for the Bulldogs last season. He completed 453 of 659 passes for 5,082 yards with 50 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
