NFL Rumors: Kevin Williams will retire if no decent free agent offers are made
By Josh Hill
A while back it was speculated that former Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen would retire if he didn’t get the free agent offer he wanted but that turned out to be incredibly false. The same can’t be said of reports that Kevin Williams may retire if no decent free agent offers are made because it’s a lot more believable that he’d give up on his career.
That’s not to say Williams isn’t or wasn’t a decent player but he’s long past his prime and likely won’t hear offers that he wants to. According to the Pioneer Press, that means retirement for Williams.
"“If it’s not worth the risk of going back out there, I can’t say I’ll do it,” Williams, 33, said in a phone interview. “I don’t see (taking a low-value deal) at this point, but you never know.”"
That’s not bad reasoning by Williams as there’s no point in risking his health to earn money that he already has. He may end up finding a deal somewhere but for the most part if seems that the career of Kevin Williams is over.
