The Chicago Cubs won their first series of the young 2014 regular season against the St. Louis Cardinals. They looked as if they were going to take a 3-1 series against the Arizona Diamondbacks but Pedro Strop was in touch with his inner Carlos Marmol.

That game was difficult to watch. Anyways, the Cubs sent right-handed starter Jake Arrieta to the mound today and was able to pick up a 3-0 victory. Outfielder Junior Lake continued to put the ball in play and even helped his team with a two run shot during the bottom of the sixth to make it 2-0.

Lake is currently in third (three players tied in second with three four each) with three home runs on the season. Anthony Rizzo who leads the team with six home runs, was able to pick up an RBI later on in the game to make it 3-0. Rizzo would finish 1-3, while Lake finished 3-3.

Junior moved between left field to center field after Ryan Kalish was brought into the game. And hats off to Arrieta who had himself a solid outing today against the Cardinals.

Arrieta worked through five and one-third scoreless innings as he only gave up four hits while striking out seven.
