When the Portland Trail Blazers were flying high as one of the best teams in the NBA earlier this season, there seemed to be little doubt about the future of head coach Terry Stotts but then the hard times happened.

Soon, Stotts found himself in a position that Mark Jackson, Frank Vogel and Scott Brooks find themselves in as they needed to win their first round series to make sure they didn’t get fired. The futures of Jackson, Vogel and Brooks are still up int he air but it appears that Stotts may have secured his thanks to Damian Lillard and his buzzer beater in Game 6

Lillard’s cold blooded shot connected from long range to win the series for the Blazers and now that they’re into the second round it appears that Stotts’ job is largely safe. It’s not a guarantee that he’ll be back but letting him go after everything that has happened this postseason is a lot harder to justify than if he had fallen into a Game 7 situation.
