Here is a photograph that’s likely to draw some major attention, creating a dry narrative as the NFL remains in the offseason: Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant takes a picture with 2014 NFL Draft star Johnny Manziel and posts it on Instagram:

With few things to talk about due to the NFL pushing the NFL Draft into April, a photograph featuring two of the more popular players at their respective positions will surely create some conversation going into the draft. Is there a connection between Manziel and Bryant? Is Manziel the heir apparent to the Tony Romo throne in Dallas? Would the Houston Texans trade the number one overall pick to the Dallas Cowboys for a proven quarterback in Tony Romo (this narrative makes little since due to salary cap reasons and Romo’s recent injury history, coming off of a back problem that prematurely ended his 2013 season) so Jerry Jones can draft Texas’ own Johnny Football? These are all things we’ve heard as the writers and analysts of the NFL have forced themselves to talk about things with all the extra time on their hands.

Odds are, due to Manziel being one of the most popular athletes in the draft in a long time, Bryant took this as an opportunity to show himself with a presumably cool dude. With both players being born in Texas, the two have a bit in common as you can tell by Bryant’s “My East Texas Brother” comment.

But since his last two seasons in college, the media around Johnny Manziel has been far from normal, with the same being said for Dez Bryant since being drafted by the Dallas Cowboys a few years back, so if the media decides to spin this into something that obviously isn’t apparent, it’ll be a surprise to no one.

The 2014 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, May 8th.
