The comments of an NBA player (or any professional athlete) after losing a hugely important basketball game should almost always be taken with a grain of salt, but in the case of Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry, there could be significant merit to his words. Following Toronto’s 1-point loss to Brooklyn in Game 7 on Sunday, Lowry made some very interesting comments about the future of the Raptors:

Because Lowry used the words “us” and “Raptors organization” in the same sentence, it would be easy to place the two together moving forward, but there is a significant bump in the world that needs to be crossed.

Kyle Lowry is an unrestricted free agent.

The 28-year-old point guard just completed an incredible season, posting 17.9 points and 7.4 assists per game in the regular season and 20 points per game during Toronto’s playoff run. With that type of production, there has been seemingly endless speculation about where Lowry could end up next season, but these comments express at least some level of interest in remaining in Canada.

In reality, only the market will likely dictate where Lowry lands next season, but if the Raptors have a leg up in trying to keep him in the fold, that is a significant tidbit of information.
