NFL Rumors: Oakland Raiders may cut Tony Bergstrom

When the Oakland Raiders drafted Tony Bergstrom in 2012, there was hope he’d be solid member of their front line for years to come. But the former third round pick (and first overall selection of current GM Reggie McKenzie) has struggled with injury and ability, which could lead to him being cut come Raiders training camp.

That’s the word from the San Francisco Chronicle who suggests Bergstrom’s roster spot is on the bubble.

He didn’t have any picks in the first or second round in 2012, but his first-ever selection for the Raiders, third-round guard Tony Bergstrom, is in real danger of being cut after training camp this summer.

Bergstrom missed the entire 2013 season with a ‘significant’ foot injury and given the scheme change on the Raiders offensive line, it appears as if the former Utah talent may be playing in a new zip code come the regular season.

It will likely take a relatively strong camp from Bergstrom (or injury on the offensive line) to maintain his roster spot moving forward.

Another fine Pick Reggie, way to go.

I don’t know why McKenzie drafted this guy. He was four years older than the average rookie and there were a couple of good DTs available. McKenzies draft picks have been the worst I’ve seen since Heyward-Bey and Jamarcus Russell.

That is a dumb comment. Watkins and Hayden are gonna be fine players. Watch them this year. Sio Moore, Rivera.

Watkins is another one who was three years older than the average rookie and he’s as inexperienced as they come. Hayden almost died on the practice field.

I get ya on Watson ( I guess I really want Watkins on this draft ), but he goes to FSU and starts at RT and gives up one sack in one season. He was a highly rated tackle coming out of College. He has already surprised the coaches when he has played. Barring any more injury set backs he should start at RT. Hayden will be back with a vengeance this year.

Sorry for calling the comment dumb. I am not a troll or jerk. Everytime I hear the JR and HAYBEY names called I just cringe. Wanted Adrian or Calvin when Al drafted JR. No one knew how good AP would be as good as he is and has been. He broke his collarbone the 1st game of his SR season doing one of those, I am cool should roll into the end zone TD’s.
