While there have been small whispers that the Oakland Raiders could be looking to draft a tight end come the 2014 NFL Draft, those seem to be nothing more than hearsay at this point, at least according to head coach Dennis Allen.

Allen praised second-year tight end Mychal Rivera and suggested that he’s a foundation piece to the organization moving forward.

"While Kasa remains an unknown commodity, head coach Dennis Allen recently included Rivera in a list of foundation pieces"

Rivera emerged onto the scene last year in promising fashion and looks to have a solid career ahead of him, though ‘foundation piece’ may be a little strong of a sentiment right now. That said, it doesn’t appear as if tight end is an immediate need in comparison to other positions for the Raiders come this weeks draft.

As for Rivera, he’ll likely be used rather heavily if Matt Schaub remains healthy under center as the quarterback has a lengthy history of targeting his tight end quite often.
