Probably nothing touches a sports fan more than seeing a photo of two legends together, even if they don’t play the same sport, and that’s exactly what we got on Sunday afternoon before the New York Yankees took on the Tampa Bay Rays at Yankee Stadium.

Prior to the game, Derek Jeter–who is playing the final major league season of his illustrious career–was paid a visit by the man whom some consider to be the greatest quarterback of all time, Peyton Manning.

When asked why he made the trip to New York to see the Yankee legend, Manning pointed out that he wanted to pay his respects to his friend.

“I came to see Derek play,” Manning told ESPN.com. “Derek and I have been friends — he’s a couple years older than me, but we’ve been pretty much professionals at the same time. So I wanted to pay my respects and see him play for the last time.”

No matter what your opinions are on either of these two, when you take a step back and look at the picture–I mean really look at it–you realize that you’re looking at two of the biggest icons that sports has ever seen.
