The New York Knicks fired head coach Mike Woodson this year but that hasn’t deterred him from wanting to jump right back into the thick of things with another NBA franchise. While he’s sort of considered to be damaged goods, the lack of coaching options for the number of teams that could ultimately be looking for new leadership means that there might be a god chance Woodson is back on an NBA bench in 2014-15.

Woodson was asked about his chances of returning to the NBA this upcoming season and he said he’s all for it.

Per ESPN New York:

"“Keeping my eyes on coaching,” Woodson said during a phone interview to promote his golf tournament. “I want to get back into coaching. So that’s my next move. So we’ll see what happens. … That’s a big goal. That’s what I’m going to push to do, absolutely.”"

There were rumors that Woodson would be jumping to the college ranks but that doesn’t appear to be something he would consider over an NBA job. Then again, he didn’t explicitly say he was interested in coaching at a specific level so he may very well end up in college if that’s the only place he can find work.

Either way, Woodson may be out of a job now but he’s looking to make his unemployment short lived.
