Just a few days ago, it looked like a foregone conclusion Steve Kerr would be the next head coach of the New York Knicks.

The current TNT analyst was reportedly set to work for Phil Jackson, his former coach with the Chicago Bulls, with Seattle had the Sacramento Kings moved there and Jackson apparently still wants Kerr now that he is the Knicks’ President.

The Knicks hoped to get a deal done soon if they decided on Kerr. That’s because they knew the Golden State Warriors, who have a relationship with Kerr, could come calling if they fired Mark Jackson, which is exactly what happened Tuesday.

However, according to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Kerr prefers the Knicks to the Warriors.

Kerr has never been a head coach but did serve as President and General Manager of the Phoenix Suns.
