The Dallas Mavericks almost knocked off their heated rivals, the San Antonio Spurs, in the first round of the NBA Playoffs this year, but while they came close they got no cigar. This offseason will be spent retooling the roster to ensure that another title run isn’t stopped in the opening round again.

But while the list of free agents this offseason contains some supposed fits for the Mavericks, one player is unlikely to be coming the Big D, despite it being a homecoming of sorts. According to ESPNDallas reporter Tim McMahon, the Mavs are not expected to sign or even pursue Chris Bosh this summer.

This makes a lot of sense, as McMahon points out that despite the two sounding good on paper, as it would be a pairing of the leagues two best jump-shooting big men, they play from a lot of the same places on the court and having two bodies in one place is really not that helpful.

There’s a chance the Mavericks try to bring Bosh in and play him at center, but there’ s a better chance that Bosh stays in Miami and the Mavericks pursue a different big man on the market.
