The North Carolina Tar Heels have been hearing loud whispers from out west that the Los Angeles Lakers are coming for their head coach. While the Lakers represent a leap to the pros for Williams, he apparently has no intention of making any interest from Lakers mutual.

Williams went on Fox Sports Radio to make a statement about coaching the Tar Heels in the future and mentioned that while he respects the Lakers he has no interested in going there to coach.

"“I’ve always felt like that I’m a college coach and that’s where I belong,” Williams said. “Mitch Kupchak is one of my best friends in the whole wide world, there’s no question there, but I’m a college guy and if somebody calls and offers me the greatest job in the world, it better be really good because I feel like I’ve got about the greatest job in the world.”"

This isn’t all that surprising as the Lakers job isn’t what it once was and finding a replacement for Mike D’Antoni hasn’t been as flashy as Los Angeles might have liked. Instead of getting coaches drooling over the idea of coaching Kobe Bryant, they’ve been given a kind ‘no thanks’ from people like John Calipari, Coach K and now Roy Williams.
