The big trade talk at the moment revolves around a possible deal that could send New England Patriots quarterback Ryan Mallett to the Houston Texans and a mid-round pick back to Foxboro. The story doesn’t seem to end there though as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking to trade quarterback Mike Glennon and the Patriots might dip back into their farm system and call him up to the big leagues.

PFT.com and Mike Florio countered the trade rumors by saying they’re not going on at the moment.

It’s no secret that Bill Belichick likes to mine the Buccaneers for players as he’s grabbed LeGarrette Blount and Aqib Talib from them for virtually nothing at all. Glennon seems to be a more suitable backup for Tom Brady and looks closer to starting than Mallett does.

There’s no guarantee that the Patriots will pick up Glennon as Belichick’s patsy Greg Schiano is no longer in town and won’t just give up his players for next to nothing. But Lovie Smith is keen on getting rid of Glennon and the Patriots picking him up, even if Mallet isn’t moved, seems to make a lot of sense.
