The Golden State Warriors are looking for a new head coach and that means an extensive search that includes a slew of possibilities. Unlike the in-state Los Angeles Lakers, who seem to be throwing themselves at anyone with a big name, the Dubs are looking at serious options that may have serious interest in return. We’ve already heard about Stan Van Gundy and Steve Kerr, but a new name ha surfaced and it’s iconic to say the least.
According to Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Warriors are looking at former Utah Jazz head coach Jerry Sloan to help them out and join the bench.
This is a bit of inspired thinking as Sloan hasn’t coached in the NBA since Deron Williams basically made him hate basketball and he hasn’t really been lighting up coaching searches since. There’s no guarantee that he’d be interested, but Sloan working with the roster that the Warriors have is not the worst thing to imagine.
It will be at least a week until the Dubs hire a coach and so far they have a wide open field of talent to try and lure out west.
