There was a lot made about the NFL future of defensive nose tackle Louis Nix III and where he’d end up as many thought he was a first round grade. At the very least, many experts had nix going somewhere in the second round but it wasn’t until the 83rd overall pick that his name was called.

After watching his name plummet down draft boards for some unknown reason, the Houston Texans traded up with the Philadelphia Eagles to select Nix 50 picks after it was projected they’d take him. Rather than getting him at No. 33, the Texans grabbed the Notre Dame plug in the third round and now have pieced together a defensive line that will be vicious to deal with.

Jadeveon Clowney and J.J. Watt will be making up the ends of the line with Nix plugging up the middle as the nose tackle in Romeo Crennel’s defense. As if just having Clowney and Watt wasn’t enough, Nix has been added to the mix and the Texans defense is once again a force on paper.
