The Sugar Land Skeeters are going to milk the Tracy McGrady thing for all it’s worth.

The minor league baseball team has announced that former NBA All-Star McGrady will start his first game Saturday, taking the mound against the Somerset Patriots.

This will be McGrady’s first action since last month when he pitched an inning in an exhibition game against Alvin Community College. He allowed three hits in that outing.

McGrady will be on a pitch count, say the Skeeters.

The 34-year-old McGrady stunned everyone earlier this year when he announced that he was going to try to make it as a pitcher.

Videos of McGrady working out failed to convince people that this was anything but a wacky publicity stunt.

Now McGrady will take the next step in his journey and pitch in an actual live competitive game against other minor leaguers.

The question everyone will be asking: Can Tracy McGrady get out of the first inning?

Cause he said the thing about getting out of the first round of the playoffs and then they didn’t get out of the first round of the playoffs…

Never mind.
