On a day where we see draft picks traded around like candy at the lunch table, the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills have struck a trade that send running back Bryce Brown to the Bills for 2015 mid-round draft pick.

The trade is notable in that Brown was starting to come on as a solid backup option for the Eagles but seemed to be rendered irrelevant in the offense thanks to the acquisition of Darren Sproles earlier this offseason. Brown and Sproles are two different players, but the logjam of running backs for the Eagles made it almost a necessity to move Brown and Philly has gotten value back for him.

Buffalo gets a running back in Brown who can start to work his way into the tandem of Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller and will likely take over for one of them in the near future. He’s a solid runner and will give the Bills another dynamic option for their growing offense.
