The NFL Draft is now over and the Detroit Lions are one of many teams now combing through the list of undrafted free agents to see who they want to sign and who wasn’t drafted for a reason. There are a slew of great names still out there and one of them was James Franklin from Missouri.

He’ not out there anymore as the Lions have scooped him up and will be seeing if he can make the cut to backup Matthew Stafford in 2014.

Franklin comes from a Missouri teams that ran the spread offense, so there will be some adjusting to his game but h’s not a starter at the NFL level so that’s okay. What the Lions really want to know is if his athletic ability transitions to the pro game and whether or not he may fit better at a different position.

Only time will tell but the list of teams hunting for undrafted free agents are just getting started.
