When Oklahoma State Cowboys’ point guard Marcus Smart decided to return for his sophomore season, it surprised many.

In 2014, he has decided to enter the draft and one team that has been mentioned with Smart is the Sacramento Kings. They are expected to re-sign point guard Isaiah Thomas, who will become a restricted free agent in the summer, but if he signs a large offer sheet, they could opt to replace him with a cheaper option.

However, Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors has not heard the Kings are especially high on Smart and won’t go out of their way to acquire him.

"I haven’t heard that the Kings are especially high on him, and they might not have to move up to get him, anyway. The Kings are line to draft seventh, and Smart figures to be right in that range, according to most projections. I think Isaiah Thomas proved quite a bit this season, and I’d be surprised if the Kings made an aggressive play at a point guard this summer. If one’s there, they’ll take him, but otherwise, I think they’ll roll with Thomas."

Smart averaged 18.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.9 steals per game last season.
