PFT’s Mike Florio trades barbs with ESPN’s Todd McShay

A war of words has broken out between Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio and ESPN’s Todd McShay. Well, truth be told, it’s mostly Florio doing the warring while McShay stands there Neo-like watching the word-bullets whiz by him.

Evidently, McShay has no desire to mix it up with Florio. Which is too bad because there’s nothing better than a good media slap-fight. It’s like watching kindergartners go at it.

The whole non-thing started when Mike Florio, apparently not satisfied with the millions of hits he was already getting every second on PFT, decided to go after ESPN draft guru McShay over McShay’s alleged role in encouraging underclassmen to leave college early.

Florio’s argument, if I understand correctly, is that McShay is a hypocrite for going after people who encourage underclassmen to leave early when McShay himself is part of a whole culture that makes kids want to bail on school.

Do I have that right?

McShay didn’t take very kindly to being called a hypocrite and tweeted at Florio.

To which Florio tweeted back.

And when McShay didn’t immediately mix it up with Florio, he tried to go at him a little more.

Thus far, McShay has elected to just let Florio rant. Taking the high road seems like a good idea especially when Twitter is involved.

It’s hard to look like anything but a nitwit when you’re making your arguments 140 characters at a time.

As to whether Florio has a point in his allegations against McShay and the rest of the people who participate in hyping underclassmen and allegedly encouraging them to leave school?

I don’t know. Maybe.
