Ryan Braun hasn’t played since April 26 thanks to a strained oblique, and in the time he’s been out, the Brewers have come back down from their torrid start to re-discover mediocrity.

What we learned is that Braun’s big bat is vital to the Brewers’ success. Which shouldn’t really be a surprise to anyone.

The good news for Milwaukee? They should have Braun back in the line up very soon. Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Braun is set to come off the DL on Tuesday.

Braun was hitting .318/.361/.591 with 6 homers and 18 RBI when he went on the DL. If he picks that production up again, and Milwaukee gets back to winning like they were before Braun went down, then Braun should find himself in the middle of the MVP discussion again this summer.

And that won’t sit very well with people who still see Braun as a PED cheat and a symbol of all that is wrong with modern day baseball. But tough bananas for them, I guess.
