When the New Orleans Saints placed the franchise tag on tight end Jimmy Graham we knew things weren’t going to be that simple. At the heart of the issue between the two sides is whether he gets classified as a tight end or wide receiver, the difference being millions of dollars.

Technically Graham is listed as a tight end, but plays more snaps slit out like a wide receiver, 67 percent in fact. Since a long-term deal hasn’t been worked out, that had them falling back to the franchise tag dispute. The NFL Players’ Association filed a grievance on behalf of Graham, and according to Mike Triplett that grievance hearing has been scheduled for June 17th and 18th.

Well that hearing date has been set.
