The second place and much improved Chicago White Sox will start off a huge road trip that will see them visiting the Oakland Athletics, Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals.

They swept the Chicago Cubs to bring the Cross-Town Cup back home last week and just recently dropped a three game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Tonight’s game against the Athletics is scheduled for 9:05 p.m. central time but before the Sox take the field, they made a couple roster moves.

According to the Charlotte Knights Twitter handle, the White Sox released both left handed pitcher David Purcey and infielder Alex Liddi.

The 32 year old lefty that was cut loose issued 14 walks over 19 and two-third innings of relief work while posting a 4.58 ERA at Triple-A Charlotte. He’ll look to latch onto another organization but needs to cut down on the walks if he hopes to stick around.

Infielder Liddi, 25, was hitting only .167/.200/.264 across the line in his first 21 games of the season. Right-hander Maikel Cleto was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte after he cleared waivers over the weekend.

He currently holds a 5.14 ERA and 10/15 K/BB ratio over 14 innings with the Chicago White Sox.
