There is a new king in the golfing world and it’s yet again not Tiger Woods. After somehow reclaiming the top spot int he world rankings, Tiger Woods has once more been leapfrogged as the best golfer in the world and will now have to claw his back back to that top ranking.

According to ESPN, Adam Scott will become the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world and will have the distinct honor of being the 17th golfer ever to supplant Tiger Woods in the process.

Scott is a star on the golfing scene and has been someone that many believe will become the next great player of his generation. There’s plenty of competition though, as the likes of Bubba Watson and Rory McIlroy remain names to watch as the tournaments go by.

But everyone is chasing Tiger and Scott is the seventeenth golfer to have caught him in his career. There are really two things to take away from this as the obvious is that Scott is the best golfer in the world and will remain so until he himself is supplanted like Tiger.

We can’t discount the fact though that Tiger Woods was, up until today, the No. 1 ranked golfer on the planet despite all of his problems. He had to pull out of the Masters, can barely swing a club it seems and hasn’t won a meaningful tournament in ages. Yet it’s a testament to his legacy that he was No. 1 in the world — the only question is will he ever get back?
