The Denver Broncos have one of the most deep cores of wide receivers in the NFL, a group that became even deeper when Denver traded up to select Cody Latimer during the 2014 NFL Draft.

Despite the desire to move up, it wasn’t expected that Latimer would see much time for the Broncos this season. However, according to CBS Denver, not only will Latimer see some time, he could even be named a starter.

"I’m told Cody Latimer will compete for a starting job this year. Not next year. Like now."

If Latimer is to given a starting role, it would be at the expense of Emmanuel Sanders which seems to be rather unlikely – at least at this point.

However, Wes Welker is set to become a free agent in 2015 so Denver will certainly do what they can to get Latimer some on-field action even if he doesn’t beat out Sanders for a starting role.

Whatever the case, it seems as if Latimer will be given the opportunity to carve out a niche this season.
