The Tampa Bay Buccaneers looked ready to trade quarterback Mike Glennon earlier this offseason but they ended up keeping him through the draft and are now blitzing him with endorsements. A few months after saying Josh mcCown was the starter and trying to trade Glennon, head coach Lovie Smith is once again endorsing him as the starting quarterback of the future.

Per  Roy Cummings of The Tampa Tribune

"”I made it clear right away that Josh McCown is our starter, which he is,” Smith said during an interview on WDAE (620 AM). “And hopefully for quite a few years he will be. And I said I really like Mike Glennon. Mike’s a young player coming up. In an ideal situation you don’t want young players to have to come in and start right away, you want them to be around an established veteran.”"

It’s was virtually a done deal according to reports and Glennon was as  good as gone, but here he remains. That has prompted major apologies from the Bucs and you can bet this isn’t the last time we hear Lovie Smith endorse Mike Glennon.
