The New York Knicks are a bit of a laughing stock right now as they seemed so smug about their chances of hiring Steve Kerr, only to be spurned at the last minute so that the Golden State Warriors could hire him instead. While the Knicks are being laughed at, they’re desperately trying to save face and almost need to hit a home run with whoever they end up hiring.

We heard a list of names like Mark Jackson and others, and we can now add Iowa state head coach Fred Hoiberg to the mix as well.

According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard, the Knicks are eyeing the Cyclones head coach to make up for losing out on Kerr. No one is accusing Broussard of making things up, but it seems hard to believe that Hoiberg is still a legitimate candidate in the NBA after his name is repeatedly shot down when brought up.

Still, New York is a massive market and it might be what can lure Hoiberg out of the plains of Iowa although no one can be certain. That won’t stop the Knicks from trying though as they’ve been burned once and are now clearly going the Los Angeles Lakers route and blanketing the country with ‘Help Wanted’ ads.
