The Los Angeles Clippers are trying to stay alive in their Western Conference Semifinal matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but their backs are no doubt up against the wall. Out east, Doc Rivers’ old player Paul Pierce has already been bounced from the postseason and that could lead to a reunion in L.A. that sees the Clippers had a piece they may be missing from the championship puzzle.

According to Marc Stein from ESPN, should Kevin Garnett decide to call it a career and retire from the NBA, Paul Pierce will likely bolt out west in free agency and sign with the Los Angeles Clippers.

A lot needs to happen before we see Pierce in Clippers colors and the Donald Sterling situation may have something to do with it. But Pierce and Doc go way back to their Boston days and it seems that the two need each other to become complete. The Clippers may end up winning a title this year, furthering the incentive for Pierce to sign, but if they don’t then we could see the team make a play to sign Pierce and reunite him with his former coach to make on last push at a title.
