After a season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Nick Young has become a household name. Unlike the Lebron James’ and Kevin Durant’s of the world, Young’s popularity rise has more to do with his laid-back personality than it does his skills on the court.

Hence the name “Swaggy P”, a nickname that NBA fans all around have been drawn to. But where did Young get the nickname from? According to a video on his Instagram page, God gave it to him.

Well, since the conversation was held between only God and Nick Young, no one can say that Young is wrong. Or crazy. But what we can say is that thanks to God, Young has been provided one of the best nicknames in NBA history.

A possible free agent this summer, Nick Young has a tough decision ahead of him. After averaging a career high 17.9 points on 43 percent as sixth man for the Los Angeles Lakers, the shooting guard has a chance to test free agency as teams will surely throw some cash his direction. But for a minuscule $1.2 million, Young could remain with the Lakers and capitalize on the rising popularity that came solely from being a fun, loving player on a really bad Lakers team. The Lakers likely won’t be as bad as they were last season next year, but he’ll be given a lot of minutes as the wing position.

Hopefully he stays with Nick Young. He’s a fun player who entertains the masses and makes an almost unlikeable franchise likeable.

All hail Swaggy P.
