Seahawks to be honored at White House on Wednesday

Following with tradition, the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks will go to the White House to celebrate their Vince Lombardi Trophy next Wednesday according to the team’s website. They will be honored by President Barack Obama, like he did recently with the Boston Red Sox, though you can bet after David Ortiz’s stunt for Samsung no one will be taking selfies with the commander-in-chief.

Cornerback Richard Sherman has already been to the White House once this year for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner last week, and even got a shout out from the president when he mocked Sherman’s post-NFC Championship game rant.

“I thought he did pretty well,” Sherman said when asked about President Obama’s impression. “I thought he is the best President in the game. He’s the only President in the game right now, but I thought it was pretty cool.

“That was a real surreal experience and I really appreciate that. I didn’t know he knew I existed until before the Super Bowl. Pete (Carroll, the coach) played an audio tape for us and that was pretty cool. But we’ll get to see him in a few days and we’ll talk about that.”

We’ll see if they have anything else in store for the ceremony next week.
