The Dallas Cowboys selected Boise State defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence in the second-round of the 2014 NFL Draft, but he is going to be late arriving for the team’s rookie minicamp. Before anyone begins to criticize Lawrence for not showing up on time, it is important to note his reason for skipping the first day and it is perfectly understandable.

According to Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com, Lawrence will not be showing up for Day One of the minicamp because he wants to be present for the birth of his son.

That is something that everyone should understand.

Lawrence figures to be a big part of the Cowboys plans moving forward, and there will be plenty of time left this offseason for him to fine tune his skills and get a grasp on the team’s defensive scheme.

Once Lawrence is comfortable, he will likely be placed right into the starting line up that is without all of their starters from a year ago.
