By now, everyone has seen the video of the heroic cat that chased a psychotic dog away after said dog dragged a boy down off of his bike. The dog looked like it attempted to rip the boy’s leg off before the cat came up like Prince Fielder coming down the third base line before catcher collisions were banned and the dog went running away. The cat came back to check on her owner.

That cat is being perceived as a hero for its fierce protection of her family, and now she will be the recipient of another honor. TMZ.com reports that Tara, the cat in question, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch at a home game for Single-A Bakersfield Blaze, an affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. Well, the cat won’t throw the pitch out…or maybe it will.

Tara and her family are residents of Bakersfield, California and the team reached out to her owners to see if they would participate in the ceremony. They will, and the game of interest is scheduled for May 20th. That is the first game of a seven-game homestand, starting against the Lancaster Jethawks, who are the Single-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.

No word yet on whether the most famous Bakersfield, California Major Leaguer, Colby Lewis, is even aware of this story. I will be polling my resources though. The video, by the way, is below.
