In the BCS National Championship Game this past January, the Florida State Seminoles defeated the Auburn Tigers, 34-31, in one of the more thrilling title games in history. Coming into the game, the storylines surrounding everything reached beyond the field and onto the sidelines with the coaches. Well, one coach in particular, and that was Auburn co-offensive coordinator Dameyune Craig.

You see, Craig, a former Auburn quarterback, was an assistant at Florida State prior to landing his most recent coaching job with his alma mater and he played an integral part in the recruitment of the Seminoles’ Heisman winning quarterback, Jameis Winston.

Oh yeah, and as you might remember, going back to Craig’s involvement with the ‘Noles prior to coming back to Auburn, he was accused of allegedly giving away Florida State’s signals to his Auburn players in the first half that was largely controlled by the Tigers.

Nonetheless, on Friday, because there is not much to do in the offseason except for poke around the internet, someone happened to notice that Auburn football’s website actually claimed a 1993 national championship; a year that they did go undefeated, however were unable to participate in the postseason due to sanctions.

Twitter was ablaze with comments from fans and bloggers, and not long after the news was released, Craig decided to jump in and get in on the conversation.

Okay, fair enough, a healthy point made in response to the school claiming a false title on their site. However, late Friday night, Craig got a little more involved with the FSU faithful, and a little more touchy…

In case anyone is unfamiliar, Wal-Mart digs are popular among those taking shots at Seminoles fans. Think of it as like their version of jorts.

Craig didn’t stop there. No, he then was quick to remind everyone that they can thank him for their Heisman winner.

There’s a lot more, trust me I only chose the most notable tweets to feature here. Click on his handle and go take a look for yourself.

This is why college football should be a 12-month-a-year sport, I’ve been saying this for years. Only bad things happen when there is no college football and the above happenings rest my case!
